The three most common diseases of pet cats

1、Non communicable cat diseases

宠物病1

Today, my friend and I talked about taking a dog to the hospital, and one thing left a deep impression on her. She said that when she went to the hospital, she found that there was only one dog in her family, and many other cats were sick. I also have the same feeling about this. Recently, there has been a significant increase in the number of young people who have cats, so the number of diseases that cats have experienced has doubled.

Under normal circumstances, as cats do not need to go out, diseases should be much less common than dogs. However, in reality, the opposite is true because cats come to hospitals with diseases several times more frequently than dogs. After three years of COVID-19 epidemic, the knowledge of infectious diseases among the people all over the country has improved by leaps and bounds, which makes it easier for me to explain the causes of diseases to pet owners. Normal cats are kept indoors and do not come into contact with cats and dogs outside. As long as pet owners do not search for cats or tease dogs everywhere to bring back viruses, they are as safe as being quarantined at home. The probability of developing infectious diseases and parasitic skin diseases is relatively high only in the first month of picking up a kitten, such as feline nasal branches and feline distemper, which are mostly contracted in the cat house.

However, most of the cats that come to hospitals for examination and treatment are not infectious diseases, but rather diseases caused by incorrect feeding. What makes cats sick is actually the incorrect feeding methods and unscientific diet of pet owners, and the root cause is that pet owners learn knowledge not from regular books, but rather from short videos. Today we will talk about the three most common cat diseases in hospitals, which can be completely avoided. At least in the past 30 years, my cats have never experienced these three diseases.

2、Cat’s Stone Crystal

The first common cat disease is Urinary system disease, Urethritis, urinary stones, Cystitis, bladder stones, and renal failure. The above five diseases are interlinked, and any one of them may gradually induce other diseases. For example, when Urethritis appears, bacteria can infect the bladder and cause Cystitis. When the bladder becomes inflamed, more mucus will be secreted, and a large number of crystals will be stuck to form stones. Small particles of stones will slip over the urethra and cause blockage, which will then lead to urethral stones. Urethral stones will lead to renal failure after urination. Cats only need 24 hours of urinary incontinence to begin developing acute kidney failure, while urinary incontinence caused by stones can occur frequently, multiple times, and randomly, which is very annoying.

Urinary system diseases are not infectious. They are all caused by some habits in life. The most common problems are “cat litter, drinking water, high protein diet”. In the United States, cat litter bags are labeled with a non dust rate of 99.99%, indicating that the dust content is below 0.01%. There is almost no label on domestic bags. Cat litter dust contains a large number of bacteria, which are likely to be directly exposed to cats when they urinate, and a large amount of dust will be splashed when they urinate. At the same time, they attach to the urinary organs and then gradually become infected, forming Urethritis, Cystitis, nephritis. Drinking too little water can lead to less urine and an increase in sediment in the bladder, gradually forming crystalline stones. A high protein diet can cause more mucus to be secreted in the bladder, leading to faster crystallization and the formation of stones. High protein can also cause kidney failure.

The best way to avoid Urinary system diseases is to use some Mouthwash, flowing water, cool water in summer and warm water in winter, and put water in many places of the house to induce cats to drink water; Use low dust corn, tofu, and crystal cat litter; Eat legitimate brand cat food that has been tested over time, and do not use cats as experimental subjects.

The second common disease is rhinitis, which is caused by Allergic rhinitis, irritant rhinitis, bacterial rhinitis, Sinusitis, cat cup, cat herpes, oral rhinorrhea and gingivitis. As mentioned earlier, the infectious cup and herpesvirus are excluded, and the most common is the rhinitis caused by cat Allergic rhinitis and gingivitis.
