Do Not Administer Human Medicine to Your Pet!

When the cats and dogs in the home have a cold or suffer from skin diseases, it is very troublesome to take pets out to see a vet, and the price of animal medicine is too expensive. So, can we administer our pets with human medicine at home?

Some people will say, “If people can eat it, why can’t pets?”

In the clinical treatment of pet poisoning cases, 80% of pets are poisoned by being administering human drug. Thus, It is best to follow the vet’s advice before administering any medicine. Today I’m going to talk to you why shouldn’t administer human medicine to pets.

Pet medicine is a kind of medicine specially adapted to various diseases of pets. There are great differences between the physiological structure of animals and people, especially the brain structure, the regulatory function of the brain, and the quantity and type of liver and kidney enzymes.

Therefore, compared with human drugs, pet drugs are different in composition and dosage. From the point of pharmacology, drugs have different pharmacological and toxicological effects on humans and animals, or even completely opposite. So abusing human medicine on a pet is no different than killing your pet yourself.

What can we do when our pets are ill? Please remember the following tips:

1. Making a diagnosis before taking medication

There are many reasons can cause your pet have a runny nose. It could be a cold, pneumonia, distemper or tracheal problems… No doctor will be able to tell you that it is must be cold that causes your pet has a runny rose without checking, so when your pet is ill, you should see doctor instead of feeding medicine directly, not to mention feeding it with human medicine!

2.Abuse of antibiotics will lead to drug resistance

Never use folk prescription to treat common illnesses such as cold for your cat/dog. One of the most common of these “folk prescription” is antibiotics, which can develop resistance if taken regularly. So the next time you pet has have a serious illness or an accident disease , the normal dose doesn’t work, so you have to increase the dose, and then it’s a vicious cycle, until nothing works.
