Demenidazole, as the first generation of antigenic insect drugs, its low price makes it widely used in veterinary clinical diagnosis and treatment. However, with the wide use of this kind of drugs and the relatively backward and the earliest generation of nitroimidazoles, the problem of drug resistance in the application will inevitably become more and more prominent.

01 Anti anaerobic effect

However, its wide application in poultry production is mainly reflected in anti anaerobic bacteria. In the past decades, it has been widely used in the treatment of chicken necrotic enteritis, enterotoxic syndrome and oviduct inflammation. However, its sensitivity to anaerobes is getting worse and worse. The reason is: for a long time in the past, the abuse and nonstandard use of it has led to the increasing resistance of a variety of anaerobic bacteria to it year by year, and the monitoring is still in the process. In order to curb this bad development trend, the competent department of veterinary medicine has explicitly banned it more than ten years ago: it can only be used in the breeding and production of the most widely used food animals, and it can only be used in the breeding livestock and poultry, pets and some non food special breeding.

02 Scientific and reasonable compatibility

In the aspect of compatibility of unreasonable use of demenidazole, first of all, it should not be used together with methamphenicol, florfenicol and other amido alcohol antibiotics, because demenidazole can cause bone marrow dysplasia in livestock and poultry, and when used together with the above amido alcohol antibiotics, it will increase the risk of adverse reactions in the blood system.

Secondly, it should not be used with ethanol or preparations containing a large amount of ethanol, because the combination of the two will cause disulfiram reaction, and the sick animals may have certain symptoms of neurological disorders. In addition, the use of alcohol or drugs containing a large amount of alcohol should be reduced as much as possible within 7-10 days after the drug withdrawal.

Thirdly, mainly for the pet medical industry, first, it should not be combined with immunosuppressive drugs, otherwise, demenidazole may inhibit the effect of mycophenolate mofetil on the body. Second, it can not be used with oral anticoagulants, which will enhance the anticoagulant effect of oral anticoagulants such as warfarin, so that pets have an increased risk of bleeding.

Finally, this is mainly in the pet medical industry. First, it can not be combined with liver drug enzyme inhibitors. For example, liver drug enzyme inhibitors such as cimetidine can inhibit the metabolism of metronidazole. When combined, it is necessary to detect the blood drug concentration and adjust the dose immediately. The second is that it can not be used with hepatic drug enzyme inducers. When combined with hepatic drug enzyme inducers such as phenytoin, the metabolism of demenidazole will be accelerated and the plasma concentration will be reduced; The metabolism of phenytoin and other hepatic drug enzyme inducers was slowed down and the plasma concentration was increased.

03 The preparation affects the curative effect

Because demenidazole itself is slightly soluble in water and is a time-dependent antibiotic, its drug defects and pharmacodynamic characteristics determine that “the preparation determines the efficacy”. We often see in the grass-roots units that the solubility of dimenidazole premix product is particularly poor. After adding a large amount of water and fully mixing, there are “a large number of insoluble substances” in the fine sand sample. This is not actually the manufacturer’s “sophistry” to call the water quality problem, or falsely claiming that the insoluble substances are excipients and other non drug ingredients.

All such premixed products of dimenidazole, in addition to cheaper and cheaper, are unified “no effect”.

Therefore, the majority of grass-roots farmers and veterinary drug users should pay attention to the “high-quality” products with sufficient drug content and good solubility when selecting dimenidazole premix products for the treatment of anaerobic diseases in digestive tract or reproductive system. In addition to the selection of drugs, the most critical step is: according to the objective reality of increasing drug resistance, we should do a good job in the combination, synergy and synergistic use of anti drug resistance, so as to enhance and reflect the “efficiency” of drug treatment.
