Chicken infectious bronchitis

1. Etiological characteristics

1. Attributes and classifications

Infectious bronchitis virus belongs to the family Coronaviridae and the genus coronavirus belongs to the chicken infectious bronchitis virus.

2. Serotype

Since the S1 gene is prone to mutate through mutations, insertions, deletions, and gene recombination to produce new serotypes of the virus, the infectious bronchitis virus mutates quickly and has many serotypes. There are 27 different serotypes, common viruses include Mass, Conn, Gray, etc.

3. Proliferation

The virus grows in the allantois of 10-11-day-old chicken embryos, and the development of the embryo body is blocked, the head is bent under the abdomen, the feathers are short, thick, dry, the amniotic fluid is small, and the development of the embryo body is blocked, forming a “dwarf embryo”.

4. Resistance

The virus does not have strong resistance to the outside world and will die when heated to 56°C/15 minutes. However, it can survive for a long time at low temperatures. For example, it can survive for 7 years at -20°C and 17 years at -30°C. Commonly used disinfectants are sensitive to this virus.
