With high temperature and humidity in July, fleas and ticks enter their most active breeding period, bringing the highest annual risk of parasite infection. Many owners report that parasites still appear despite regular deworming. The WERVIC parasite control team has summarized three most common causes of protection failure and provided standardized solutions.
The first mistake is frequent bathing after deworming. Topical dewormers work by diffusing through the sebaceous glands of the skin. Bathing or rain exposure within 48 hours after application washes away the skin’s surface oil layer, preventing full drug distribution and greatly reducing protective efficacy. The second mistake is insufficient dosage and improper application. Some owners estimate dosage by eye instead of strictly following body weight, or apply the product to the wrong position where the solution is trapped by fur, resulting in insufficient actual absorption and incomplete parasite control. The third mistake is only treating pets while ignoring environmental decontamination. Flea eggs and larvae hide in carpets, bedding and gaps. Deworming pets alone cannot stop eggs from hatching continuously, leading to repeated infestations.

The correct protection solution is to choose a broad-spectrum, long-lasting deworming product. WERVIC Imidacloprid and Moxidectin Spot-on Solutions are recommended: the combination of imidacloprid and moxidectin eliminates both external and internal parasites including fleas, ticks, roundworms, hookworms and ear mites, with stable protection duration. For application, select the correct specification strictly based on pet body weight, apply to the skin at the back of the neck, and avoid bathing within 48 hours after administration. Meanwhile, wash pet bedding with hot water weekly and carry out regular environmental disinfection to break the parasite life cycle and reduce infection risk from the source.
