Indications:
Dogs For the treatment of respiratory tract infections including rhinitis, tonsillitis and bronchopneumonia caused by Bordetella bronchiseptica, and Pasteurella spp. susceptible to doxycycline. For the treatment of canine ehrlichiosis caused by Ehrlichia canis. Cats For the treatment of respiratory tract infections including rhinitis, tonsillitis and bronchopneumonia caused by Bordetella bronchiseptica, and Pasteurella spp. susceptible to doxycycline.
Directions:
Administer Doxycare 200 with food or after meals.
Dosage:
For oral administration:
- The generally recommended dose is 10 mg doxycycline per kg bodyweight per day, given one time or at two divided dose. - The majority of routine cases are expected to respond after between 5 and 7 days of treatment.
- Treatment should continue for 2 to 3 days beyond the presumed clinical cure for acute infections.
- In chronic or refractory cases, a longer course of therapy, up to 14 days, may be required.
- In dogs with interstitial nephritis due to leptospirosis, treatment for 14 days is recommended.
- To ensure a correct dosage, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible to avoid underdosing or overdosing.
- Treat for at least 13 days for Canine Anaplasmosis and 4-6 weeks for Canine Ehrlichiosis.
- DoxyVax can be used as an adjunct treatment for Babesia spp. infections.
Contraindications:
Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to tetracyclines or to any of the excipients. Administer with caution to puppies, pregnant dogs, nursing dogs, and dogs with liver disease. Storage: May be stored at room temperature. Protect from light.
